Researching Images & Composition

This image proposes an idyllic landscape via a low horizon positioned on the bottom third line. This then creates a focus on the higher key lighting of the colourful sky. The tree positioned to the left and in the foreground creates another focus point and breaks up the horizontal divisions. It is encroaching on the rest of the image and gives lines to follow to either the landscape or the tree.

This image gives the image of a church from a largely tilted up angle. This implies it is a monumental building and, reaching into the sky, it is hard to differentiate between where the building stops and the sky begins. This angle also forces an awe-inspired look upon the church while the gravestones in the bottom third create a busy yet interesting base to accentuate the church's height. This is also achieved via the very low horizon. The key lighting's main focus is on the church itself and in the clouds.
