Research & Development of production logos and titles
Examples of Production Company Logos:
These logos are relatively simple yet eye-catching and effective. I intend to achieve a similar standard, even though my resources are limited, by also keeping my logo simple etc. Here is a first draft of my logo which i shall adapt and alter to improve:-
This is the font i have chosen to include in my Logo, i intend to change the background in order to make it similarly aesthetically pleasing to the other researched logos and maybe alter a few other things.
This is a screen shot of the altered background:
After further thought, i decided to choose a background with more relevance to my title. I then altered the shape of the text to give my final logo design. I feel it is simple and yet effective:
For my Title screens I decided to stick the with the dark red for the background as i feel i fits the genre and plot of the film. This is an example of one of my title screens i will be including in my film:
The retro typewriter font adds a certain sense of mystery and gives a more sinister look, thus fitting the genre and and style of my film well. The ink splatter creates an interesting look and sufficiently matches the title screen's colours etc I intend to keep the same style for most of the title screens in order to create a professional uniformed style.
Research & Development of soundtrack and sound effects
For my soundtrack I intend to use a mixture of ambient diegetic and low non-diegetic to create an atmospheric but natural feel, thus allowing a certain relatability and submersive effect. For example, i intend to feature the likes of sounds of birds, mild traffic etc for the diegetic and for the non-diegetic i intend to use the 'lunar strings' instrument on GarageBand for my non-diegetic.
Here is a scene shot example of the type of sound i wish to achieve using GarageBand:
Here is a clip i uploaded to youtube in order to exemplify the sounds i wish to create:

Peer Assessment of Storyboards
The positives given about my storyboard were that there were a range of shots, varying in distance etc and also that the cinematography was effective. However, the negatives were that the editing needs to work and the title screens need to be relevant.
In order to improve, i intend to ensure the editing matches the narrative and also ensure the font/colour scheme of the title screens are relevant. This means a slower pace of editing and possible fades to title screens as my character is laxidasically awakens but also then picking up pace as the narrative proceeds, with more straight cuts. The colour scheme of my title screens, i feel, possibly need to be a neutral yet dark colour such as black.

Research into a potential target audience (Primary)
I conducted some audience research in order to:
For my film i will need to take into consideration both the good points and points for improvement for the 'Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels ' opening sequence. The good points include:
- The fonts match genre well: This means i will need to use the appropriate fonts for my titles in order for them to be effective.
- The narration helps to set the background and gives and good insight: I may not necessarily use a narration in my sequence but instead possibly find some other way in giving the audience a bit of background knowledge. However, i feel that if certain things are left to the imagination it makes the audience intrigued as to what the film is about.
- The characters fit the genre as they are stereotypical for that sort of film: I will need to include actors and characters that fit my film in order for it to be believable and for it to work.
Some of the points for improvement are:
- The tension could have been built up more: this opens up to a range of techniques i intend to use in order to create a suspense sequence such as certain sounds, editing and cinematography.
- Find out what appeals to my Target Audience
- To discover any flaws or potential improvements that could be made to my film's genre
- To identify any gaps in the market and place a refreshing new twist on the genre

Research into institutions that distribute similar products
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120735/companycredits - Link to companies that distributed Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels worldwide.

An example of this is:
Although this film is American and had a higher budget, it deals with the same gangster genre and appeals to a similar audience

Brief of my practical
VIDEO
Preliminary exercise: Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.
Main task: the titles and opening of a new fiction film, to last a maximum of two minutes.
All video and audio material must be original, produced by the candidate, with the exception of music or audio effects from a copyright-free source.

Foundation production film - prelim.
This is a preliminary task set to give examples of shots such as a tracking shot, match-on-action shot and shot reverse shot. It gives me a chance to familiarize myself with the cameras and editing software.
